The Blackjack Modified Basic Strategy

The Blackjack Modified Basic Strategy - The Secret Winning Play the Gurus Have Not Yet Uncovered
Blackjack is my game. I became hooked on it not because it is the first casino game I knew but because I found it exciting. Besides, of all casino games, Blackjack is one of the very few that offers the least house edge (provided perfect play).
Mathematicians have found that in the Las Vegas strip with the best rules, the casino's advantage on the game is only a little below a fifth of one per cent. In Atlantic City casinos with liberal rules, the casino's advantage is only about a little below one half of one per cent. Even in casinos with harder rules, the casinos' advantage can only run as high as around one per cent.
In Blackjack, I have devised my own modified basic strategy. I say 'modified' because it is essentially a basic strategy only with few differences. Basic strategy as it is, I do not have to count the cards as the cards are dealt, but I do have to glance at the opened cards and make an estimate as to whether they are in excess of either high or low cards. I would then make a decision based on the information and that is enough.
I got the idea one time when I was playing with a senior player. The man (about in his 60s) was bragging he was an expert Blackjack player. He said he had been playing the game since he was only 16, though he did not say he had been losing since he was 16 too. Before he would make a decision, he would interrupt the dealer and say, "hold it awhile kid while I am figuring out what cards are in here." He would then survey the cards. If he thought there were more high cards left, (10s, Jacks, Queens, Kings and Aces) he would most often stay on his hand, and if he thought there were more low cards left, (2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, and 6s) he would most often hit. The man's playing technique may have a spec of an idea, only he did not know the basic play.
Experts have found that there are very close decisions in Blackjack. By "very close" means that these decisions are within the borderline, and even if only one card is taken from a deck, it may result in a change in the decision on the hand. Consider for example that you have a 16, and the dealer has 10. The basic strategy says you hit; however, if your hand totaling 16 is made of three cards (or more) say 5, 5, and 6, the additional low card may be enough to stay with the hand. It is on this concept that I based my modified basic strategy.
While playing I do not have to worry that I might not be accurate in my "glances" as anytime I am not sure, I would just play the basic. If you have played Blackjack long enough, you should have observed that there were times when low cards would come out in succession, with only a few high cards (if any) with them. There were also instances in which high cards would show in succession with only a few low cards (if any) with them. In which case, I would then shift to my modified basic strategy until the next round.

Winning at Blackjack - Basic Strategy and Counting

Winning at Blackjack - Basic Strategy and Counting
If you've ever been in a casino, you know that the odds favor the house. If they didn't, casinos would not stay in business long. So, it is a fact that most of the time, people leave the casino with less money than they went in with. However, for those who want much better odds at winning, Blackjack is your game.
Blackjack, when played with basic strategy, only offers the house about a 1% advantage - less if played well. This makes it the game to play for the best chance of winning. Most casinos will use multiple decks (usually 4-8) called a shoe. This will up the house advantage closer to the 1% mark.
What is the basic strategy? Basic strategy is the complete set of optimal decisions on a hand of Blackjack. In English, this means that, depending on your card total, whether it is a hard or soft total or doubles, you play a certain way depending on the dealer's face-up card. And if you play that way every time, the house will only have about a 1% advantage over you. Where you actually make money is knowing when to bet more and when to bet the minimum. I will get to that below. For example, if you have cards totalling a 12 that are not pairs, then you should only hit if the dealer is showing a 2,3,7-A and stand on 4,5,6. Basic strategy tables are available on my blog.
Like I said above, you make money knowing when to bet more and when to bet only the table minimums. This is achieved in several different ways, the most notorious of which is card counting. Card counting, when done in your head and without the help of any device, is legal and not considered cheating. However, if you are caught counting, casinos take a dim view of it and have the right to ban you from their facility. So, if you want to count cards, be sure to only do it mentally.
Card counting is not difficult. If you can add 1 and subtract 1, you are good to go. The trick is to do it quickly and accurately. There are several counting systems out there, but the typical system applies a point score for each card rank. Start out with 0 for a freshly shuffled shoe. For each face-up card from 2-6, add 1; for each 7-9 don't add anything; for each 10-A, subtract 1. The higher your count, the more tens and aces are left in the shoe and the better your chance of drawing a ten or ace. A player may even double down on a high count because the chances of drawing a ten card are much greater. Basic strategy reduces the house advantage to less than 1% while counting, if done correctly, can give the player an advantage over the house up to 2% being typical.
Learning to count cards quickly and accurately is to take a couple of decks, shuffle them together, and as quickly as you can, turn them over and count them. If you get to the end, your count should be 0. If you know someone who plays Blackjack successfully, ask them to teach you their secrets. Above all, practice.
A wonderful product which has helped me win consistently at Blackjack in our local casinos is Blackjack Secrets and can be found at the link below.

Card Counting - A Recipe For Success

Card Counting - A Recipe For Success
There are many forms of gambling, but the one thing that most types of gambling have in common is that if you play long enough you will lose. That's not debatable, it's a fact.
Horse racing, sports betting and most casino games are examples. There are two exceptions that I know of, poker and blackjack. They are beatable over the long run with the correct information and training.
Let's look at the facts, in horse racing the track returns on average 85% on straight bets and as little as 65% on exotic bets like exactas, daily doubles, trifectas and superfectas. This is impossible to overcome. In sports betting the house has a built in edge of 10% on straight bets. While parlays, reverses, etc. have even worse odds. Casino games vary. Depending on the game the casinos edge can be unknown as in slot machines, just over 5% playing roulette, with baccarat and craps being about 2.5%.
Poker is another story; the house rake is up to 5% depending on the size of the pot and the casino. Since most pots are substantially more than the limit, the rake percentage will lower according to the excess in the pot limit. In poker the house doesn't have an advantage. They provide an environment to play in and a dealer. For that service they rake, or take a percentage of, the pot, usually up to 5%. Most take up to 4%, with online casinos taking substantially less.
Poker is a beatable game that depends on skill and luck. Some statistics put winning poker players at about 5% of the poker playing population. My guess is, that stat is very close to the truth. There are many skills that can be learned to improve your poker prowess. But remember this; you never know who you are facing at the poker table. There could be players at the table that are much better than you. One or two players with more skill than you could spell disaster. Usually the level of play will dictate where the skills of the players lie. If you are in a $1-2 no limit game the skill level of the players is usually lower than playing in a $5-10 game. There are no hard and fast rules for raising or folding. If you don't have good instinct in the situations that arise or if you don't have a sense of how the opposition plays you will lose on a regular basis.
In the case of blackjack although the house advantage is about 2.5% if you learn basic strategy and use it without fail the house edge shrinks to 0.5%. Add to that a good, easy to learn card counting system and you can completely turn around the house advantage to where it's now 1.5 to 2.5% in the players favor. To make it even better it doesn't matter who is playing at your table. You're not playing against them. You're playing against the house.
Granted, there are different levels of competence involved in card counting, however any card counter can raise his/her skill level by practice. There are even devices that count for you and do it perfectly. They are illegal in a few states but are legal in most states and countries.
Combine perfect basic strategy with card counting, a good money management system, proper bankrolling and a few tips to keep from being detected by the casino and you're in a position to extract money from the casinos on a regular basis.

The Blackjack Basic Strategy - It Is Straight Maths

The Blackjack Basic Strategy - It Is Straight Maths
Getting right to the point we would however first like to offer you some common sense tips.Using these tips are just there to ensure you don't actually increase the house edge or just throw your money into the water.
You might think that it is another one of those dragged out conversations on how to manage your money, not to drink and other boring stuff, but that is not what this is about. I would probably be right if I said that you are not here to for that old story again. Lets start with the very basic of principles and that is to never ever draw a card when you are already on 16.
If you draw for another card when you are on 16 you will just be giving your money away to the  don't draw a card. Believe us, that gut feel you trust so much is totally wrong. This is not brain surgery and the most basic of ideas. If you knew it already, good... if you didn't, glad to have helped.
That brings me to the blackjack basic strategy, which is everything but some silly strategy, which was thought up by someone with little or no knowledge of the  strategy in question is based on information worked out by some of the earliest computers to work out the best mathematically possible way of playing blackjack. The house edge will be cut down to an absolute minimum if you use the strategy correctly.
Using the strategy to gain an advantage over the casino is however totally up to you. With the blackjack basic strategy it works on the assumption that the dealer always stands on 17. There is no difference in how it works in either land based casinos or internet casinos. With the blackjack basic strategy you would always use a chart through which you would look at both your hand and that of the dealer.
You will base your reaction on your cards, the dealer's cards and what the chart suggests you do. Simply by playing according to the chart you will be able to cut down the house edge to the absolute minimum.
